You ripped off the paper towel and dried your hands as thoroughly as possible in an attempt to waste even more time. Your band teacher
had allowed you to leave a minute before the bell rang to use the restroom. It was the final bell so you were hiding out there until
the crowds died down and you could go back to get your stuff in peace. The teacher normally got out of there faster than the students,
but he always left the door unlocked. You walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to the band room, expecting it to be empty.
However, when you opened the door you saw Cronus near the back gathering some equipment.
“Oh, you're still here?” you questioned your long time crush.
“Yeah, I'm supposed to clean up the mess the percussion section made.” You recalled the commotion you had heard that day during class from back there and chuckled quietly to yourself.
“So Mr. V is making you clean their mess? That seems a bit less than fair.”
“Tell me about it.”
“Do you want any help?” He placed a case on the shelf and turned to face me.
“Actually that was the last thing I needed to pick up.” He smiled and you were reminded of why you liked him so much. Despite popular
belief, he was a really sweet guy. You hadn't known him for very long but in that short span you had gotten somewhat close to him. You
met him at the beginning of the year when you joined band. He claimed to only be in the class for the easy A but you knew he was
really there for an excuse to play his guitar more often. He was an excellent musician and you were actually somewhat jealous of his
“Oh ok.” You smiled back at him before heading towards the back wall where you had left your things. You picked up your bag and
clarinet and turned around to leave but stopped when you saw him staring at you with an odd, mischievous look. You thought maybe you
had done something odd without realizing it.
“What?” You asked, tilting your head slightly to the right. Without a word he began walking towards you and came to a halt about six
inches in front of you. You took a step back only to find yourself pressed against the wall. An uneasy feeling grew in your stomach
and you felt your heart flutter in your chest. He raised his hands to either side of your head and rested them on the empty wall. He
leaned his face in towards yours and you felt his hair brush your cheek, his breath warm on the shell of your ear.
“I'm testing something.”
He pulled back and walked halfway to the door before stopping. He turned around and gestured good bye with his hand, a grin very
obvious on his face. Your face was warm, a clear indicator that there was a blush plastered over your expression of disbelief. You felt your legs trembling slightly as he left the room. They gave way and you felt your back slide down the smooth wall. You waited for your heart beat to slow down while you tried to figure out what just happened.
